skincare before workout and post workout

Post-workout skincare routine

Posted on Posted in Body

We all know that regular exercise is essential to both our physical and mental health. As the weather gets warmer, it is time to hit the gym and get your body into summer shape!

Before you kick-start your workout routine, don’t forget to check out these tips on how to take care of your skin after an intense workout session.

  1. Cleansing

Doesn’t it feel great that the sweat flushes out toxins, pollutants and dirt embedded in the skin? But did you know that too much sweat can clog your pores? The dirt, oil and makeup on your face can cause a breakout. Inevitably touching your face during a workout will also spread germs and bacteria that lead to skin inflammation. That is why it is important to wash your face before and after a workout to keep it clean and remove sweat, dirt and anything else that could clog or damage your pores. It is always handy to keep a pack of cleansing facial wipes in case there isn’t running water around. If there is running water, using a gentle cleanser to wash your face is the way to go.

  1. Hydration! Hydration!

Hydration is the golden rule! Always keep a bottle of water with you after a sweat sesh. It does not only replace the lost moisture through sweat, it also helps to boost your performance. Flushed skin and redness are very common after a workout. And it’s not just your body that you need to hydrate. Be it for your post-workout skin care or pre-workout skincare routine, hydration is key to keeping your skin healthy. After cleaning your face, try using some soothing moisturiser before putting on any makeup.

VE+ Face Cream is a mineral rich moisturizer that boots the skin's moisture barrier function

VE+ Face Cream is packed with highly concentrated natural vitamin E, which has amazing repairing properties for skin health. It helps to revive the skin, calm redness and replenish lost skin moisture. It has this rich but non-greasy consistency, that sinks right in without clogging the pores. It can also be used as a makeup base, so your face looks refreshed after your gym session.

  1. Put on your hand cream

If you lift weights, you know how easily your hands can become dry and rough. Weightlifting calluses can build up after just a few hard training sessions. Soaking your hands in warm water for 15 to 30 minutes after a workout can help soften the skin. Thickened skin can also benefit from products with AHAs, which act as a natural exfoliator that helps remove dead skin cells.

Tough Hands is a lightweight moisturizer to keep your hands hydrated and smooth.

Tough Hands is scientifically formulated with just the right amount of natural AHAs as well as active moisturising ingredients including UREA and Sodium PCA. It exfoliates, moisturises and protects your post-workout hands. Tough Hands was ranked the number one hand cream* in Australian pharmacies in 2018, and now it also comes in  75g packaging, which you can easily throw into your gym bag.

Working out boosts your energy level as well as mental health, and with the correct skincare routine, it can benefit your skin, too!
