How to Heal Cracked Feet Overnight

Posted on Posted in Blog, Foot

Cracked feet, particularly on the heels, can be a source of discomfort and even pain, so knowing how to heal cracked heels is essential. This condition, often referred to as heel fissures, is usually the result of dry, thickened skin that has lost its elasticity. While cracked feet may seem like a small issue, they can lead to more significant problems if left untreated, such as infections or deeper fissures. Healing cracked feet overnight may not completely resolve severe cases, but with the right steps, you can significantly improve the condition by morning.

Preparation:

Start by soaking your feet in warm water for about 10-15 minutes. This will help to soften the skin, making it more receptive to treatment. You can add a few drops of essential oil or Epsom salt to the water for added relaxation and benefits.

Exfoliation:

After soaking, gently scrub or exfoliate your feet using a pumice stone or foot scrub to remove any loose dead skin and effectively treat cracked heels. This step enhances the penetration of active ingredients in your foot care product. However, you need to do it gently to avoid scrubbing off too much skin.

Moisturise Intensely:

After exfoliating, pat your feet dry with a clean towel. Apply a generous amount of DU‘IT Foot & Heel Balm. Focus on the areas that are particularly dry and cracked.

Packed with 25% Urea and AHAs, DU’IT Foot & Heel Balm works effectively to exfoliate and deeply moisturise your feet, while dimethicone will form a barrier to lock in moisture, and Vitamin E will aid in repairing the skin. This product is also effective in severely cracked heels and diabetic foot ulcers.

Protect and Cover:

Once you have applied the Foot & Heel Balm, put on a pair of clean, cotton, thick socks, or consider using heel pads for added comfort. This will help the balm to absorb more effectively into your skin, prevent cracked heels, and protect your feet while you sleep.

Understanding the Ingredients

Urea

Urea is a powerful humectant, meaning it draws moisture into the skin. It has the unique ability to penetrate the skin barrier, making it highly effective in moisturizing and softening dry, thick skin. Urea not only hydrates but also gently exfoliates, helping to remove dead skin cells that contribute to rough, cracked skin.

AHAs

AHAs, such as glycolic and lactic acids, are known for their exfoliating properties. They work by loosening the bonds between dead skin cells, allowing them to slough off more easily. This process reveals smoother, healthier skin beneath. AHAs also enhance the skin’s moisture-retaining capacity, improving overall texture and appearance.

Dimethicone

Dimethicone is a type of silicone that forms a protective barrier on the skin’s surface. This barrier helps to lock in moisture, preventing further dry skin and cracking. It also adds a silky, smooth feel to the skin, enhancing comfort and softness.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is a well-known antioxidant that helps to repair and protect the skin from damage. It aids in healing by promoting cell regeneration and providing a protective layer against environmental stressors. Vitamin E also helps soothe inflammation and irritation, which are common issues with a cracked heel or feet.
